Newspaper Archiving & Digitization
Scan your historical records with precision speed, care and quality
Preserve pieces of history with our newspaper digitization solutions
WCD was founded in 1962 as a traditional microfilm and microfiche producer. As Canada's leaders in digitization, libraries and publishers across North America trust us to preserve the history of precious historical documents, including newspapers, ship passenger manifests, architectural drawings, birth certificates and more. Our technicians are diligent in quality control, adhering to the highest standards and lab procedures for document imaging.
Why Digitize?
Librarians, researchers, historians and genealogists rely on the safe archiving of precious documents to study and document the past. Many newspapers, periodicals, books and other documents were stored on microfilm or still exist on paper. Critical documents stored in these formats are prone to risks such as theft, fire and floods, and converting them to a digital format will ensure they stay safe, secure and accessible.
Quality Procedures and Care
Quality results begin with quality preparation. Our scanning operators and technicians are experienced in working with materials in delicate condition, including historical archives. Before scanning, we carefully inspect each document, separate the pages and flatten them safely and with precaution. To preserve your precious documents, we carefully label, pack and ship them through a reliable courier service.
Make Your Records Available Online
With our high resolution microfilm scanners, we can convert microfilm and microfiche and deliver them on a DVD or hard drive, and can also transfer them to an FTP site. Our digitization experts can apply optical character recognition (OCR) to transform your files into searchable PDFs and can manage your digital collection of files using leading information management solutions like ImageConnect and M-Files.
